2. Website delivery and hosting
The website is hosted on Vercel Pro, a service of Vercel Inc., 440 N Barranca Avenue #4133, Covina, CA 91723, United States. Every request for a page, stylesheet, script or icon of this website reaches Vercel, even though the options calculations run in your browser. Processing these requests can include your IP address, the requested URL, the date and time of the request, browser and user-agent information, other technical and security metadata, an approximate location derived from your IP address, and technical logs.
We use this processing to deliver the website, keep it available and protect it against abuse. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR; our legitimate interest is the secure and reliable operation of the website.
Vercel processes this data on our behalf under its Data Processing Addendum, which applies to Pro customers. For service-generated data, Vercel acts as a controller in its own right under that addendum and its Privacy Notice. Vercel's primary processing facilities are in the United States, and data may also be processed in other countries where Vercel or its subprocessors operate. The Data Processing Addendum incorporates the EU Standard Contractual Clauses for such transfers; according to its Privacy Notice, Vercel is also certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. The website is not hosted exclusively in the EU.
Logs and retention
This website is statically generated and has no server functions of its own. Vercel's runtime-log documentation lists one day of customer-accessible runtime logs on the Pro plan (30 days with the optional Observability Plus add-on); for a static site these logs can include requests served from Vercel's cache. That window only describes what Vercel shows to its customers. It is not a deletion deadline for all requests handled by Vercel's network, for infrastructure or security logs, or for data Vercel processes as a controller.
Retention at Vercel depends on the product, its configuration, the type of data and the applicable agreement. According to its Privacy Notice, Vercel keeps information for as long as its documented purposes and its legal and contractual obligations require, and then deletes or anonymizes it.
3. Browser-local options calculations
Option Geometry is an educational tool for modeling hypothetical options strategies. In the Workbench you can enter, for example, the underlying price, the valuation and expiration dates, option and stock legs with their side, quantity, strike and premium, implied volatilities, the interest rate, dividend assumptions (a continuous yield or discrete cash dividends), the exercise style (European or American), opening costs, and scenario settings such as a scenario date, a volatility shift and a price range. All calculations based on these inputs run locally in your browser.
The website has no backend that receives these inputs or the calculated results. It has no user accounts, no brokerage execution and no connection to brokerage accounts, and it loads no live option quotes or other market data. Loading the website's pages, styles and scripts from Vercel (section 2) is separate from these local calculations.
4. Browser storage
The Workbench opens with a default example and the default scenario settings. It does not read from or write to your browser's storage when it starts, and it does not store or restore your work automatically. Your inputs and changes are kept only in the page's memory: they are lost when you reload, close or leave the page, unless your browser itself restores the page from its back-forward cache. All calculations work without browser storage.
Saved strategies
You can save strategies by name under Saved in the Workbench header. This is the only Workbench function that uses your browser's local storage (localStorage). It uses a single entry, options-workbench:v1:library, and accesses it only when you use the function:
- Opening Saved reads and checks the saved strategies to list them.
- Save, or Update for an existing name, reads the entry again and stores the current strategy in it.
- Load puts a listed strategy into the Workbench and writes nothing.
- Deleting a strategy, once you confirm it, removes only that strategy from the entry.
Each saved strategy contains its name, the time it was saved and the strategy's inputs from section 3: the free-text strategy name and underlying label, the currency, the contract multiplier, the market and dividend assumptions including any cash-dividend schedule, the exercise style, the opening costs and the legs. Scenario, chart and matrix settings are not saved. Later changes are stored only if you save the strategy again.
Storage duration and removal
Saved strategies remain on your device until you delete them in the Saved strategies dialog or delete the stored site data for optiongeometry.com in your browser's settings; the website sets no expiry. Your browser may also remove stored data itself, for example after a private browsing session, and saved strategies are not shared between browsers or devices. They are not transmitted to us or to an Option Geometry backend, and we cannot read, retrieve or delete them remotely.
Entries that pre-release versions of the Workbench may have stored are not read, migrated or deleted automatically; you can remove them through your browser's site-data controls. The Workbench has no file import or export and uses no other browser storage, such as sessionStorage or IndexedDB.
5. Cookies, tracking and Section 25 TDDDG
The website itself sets no HTTP cookies. It uses no analytics or marketing tracking: no Google Analytics or Google Tag Manager, no Vercel Web Analytics or Speed Insights, no advertising pixels, heatmaps or session recording. This is separate from the technical hosting and security processing by Vercel described in section 2.
Storing information on your device and accessing information stored there is governed by Section 25 of the German Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act (Telekommunikation-Digitale-Dienste-Datenschutz-Gesetz, TDDDG), separately from the GDPR rules on processing personal data. The Workbench stores and accesses information only to provide the saved-strategy function described in section 4 when you use it (Section 25(2) No. 2 TDDDG): opening Saved reads your saved strategies, and Save, Update and a confirmed Delete write them. Nothing is read or stored automatically when the page loads or while you edit the Workbench. The stored information is not used for tracking, analytics or advertising and is not transmitted to us.
6. Contact by email or telephone
If you contact us, we process the information you provide to handle your inquiry. For email this can include your name, email address, the content of your message, attachments and technical communication metadata; for telephone calls, your phone number and the information you share during the call.
Email is processed by Fastmail Pty Ltd, PO Box 234, Collins Street West, VIC 8007, Australia. Fastmail processes our email communications as a processor on our behalf under its Data Protection Agreement. Its Privacy Policy names countries such as the United States, the Netherlands, Australia, India and Austria to which data may be transferred. For transfers of personal data from the EU, Fastmail's Data Protection Agreement incorporates the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. Email processing is not limited to Germany or the EU.
If your inquiry concerns a contract with us or steps you request before entering into one, the legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR. For all other inquiries it is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, based on our legitimate interest in answering messages addressed to us. Providing your details is voluntary, but we need a way to reply.
We delete correspondence when it is no longer needed to handle your inquiry, unless a statutory retention obligation, for example under commercial or tax law, requires us to keep it (Article 6(1)(c) GDPR) or we need it to establish, exercise or defend legal claims (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). Deletion from Fastmail's systems and backups follows Fastmail's terms.
7. External links and resources
The Guides and other pages contain ordinary links to external websites, for example options exchanges, clearing organizations, regulators, investor-education sites and academic publications. These are links, not embedded services: the website does not contact a linked site when you view a page. If you follow a link, the external website receives your request and its own data-protection practices apply.
Option Geometry loads its pages, styles, scripts and icon only from its own domain and uses fonts installed on your device. It loads no third-party fonts, scripts, images, videos or iframes, no social-media widgets and no market-data or brokerage interfaces. It contains no affiliate links or redirect tracking.
8. Your rights
Subject to the conditions of the GDPR, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access to your data and information about its processing (Article 15).
- Rectification of inaccurate data and completion of incomplete data (Article 16).
- Erasure of your data (Article 17).
- Restriction of processing (Article 18).
- Data portability, where processing is carried out by automated means and based on consent or a contract (Article 20).
- Objection, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to processing based on Article 6(1)(f) GDPR (Article 21). We then stop that processing unless we demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests, rights and freedoms, or need it to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
- Withdrawal of consent at any time where processing is based on consent, without affecting the lawfulness of processing before the withdrawal (Article 7(3)).
- A complaint to a supervisory authority, in particular in the EU Member State of your habitual residence, your place of work or the place of the alleged infringement (Article 77).
To exercise your rights, contact info@optiongeometry.com. You do not need to contact us before lodging a complaint. Data stored only in your browser (section 4) does not reach us: you can delete saved strategies in the Workbench and remove all stored entries through your browser's site-data controls.
